Fathers Day 2014
I tend to talk about moms a lot, mainly because I'm a mom. I relate to other moms. Today though, is a day to appreciate fathers. It's all about you dad. You will get ties you will never wear, you will get extra naps and hugs, you will probably even get at least one of your favorite meals. So soak it in dads because we love you, and appreciate you, and as a mom I'm here to say thank God for you!
I've heard many, many times that a mother becomes a mom when she finds out she is pregnant but a father becomes a dad the minute his baby is born. I definitely think there is some truth to that. During a birth you see a change when the father sees his baby for the first time. You can actually see that change of just a man to a daddy. You can see and feel the instant joy, love, happiness and most noticeable the pride.
I think that is the one thing that ties all new and well seasoned fathers together, pride. Dads have this amazing pride for their children that is unlike any other. I love seeing that look on a dads face for the first time. This special pride dads have for their children is one of a kind and it gives your kids a sense that they can become anything, do anything, and be anyone they want to be. This is so important to children. Giving them the knowledge that you are so proud of them no matter what, just for being them. It is a special thing that I think daddies do extra well.
So to all you Dads, Step-Dads, Single Dads, Father figures, and expectant Dads out there, Happy Fathers Day. I hope you have a wonderful day full of celebration, appreciation, naps, cheesy gifts, and favorite foods!
I am a mom and a photographer. My love of motherhood led me to photograph all things from bellies to birth and beyond.
