Happy Birthday Big Boy!
It's so hard to believe another year has gone by. You are such an amazing kid. A kid, man your really not a baby anymore. You have become so fiercely independent. You go to the potty by yourself, you brush your teeth, you can put your own shirt on, you no longer need help on steps, you play on the big kid play ground at the park, you buckle your car seat. I am constantly hearing "I can do it!" and you can.
There have been major changes this year. The biggest being that you are now a big brother! I love watching you with Ben. He adores you and you love being around and entertaining him. You are such a big helper and I am so thankful that you have a helpful heart. Whether you are getting Ben's paci or throwing away a diaper you do it with an enthusiastic "sure!" You sleep in a big boy bed now and you do so great in it. You don't get out of bed until we come to get you. It was an easy transition. Well at least after the first two days. We got rid of your paci because big boys don't need them. That one was a bit harder. It was hardest on you but as you sat uncontrollably crying in your bed begging for your paci I wanted to cry too. So many big changes. You have had quite the personality change this year too. You have really started using your imagination and it has been so joyful to watch. You make up stories, you create things with your toys, you pretend constantly and I cannot believe the things you come up with sometimes. You are such a curious kid. You want to know what every song is, who everyone's name is, what every building is. Riding in the car is a constant stream of what's and who's. You have also become quite assertive, sassy, and bossy. I think this confidence comes automatically at this age. Along with all of that sass has also come kindness and manners. You ask if I'm OK when I'm hurt, you thank me for making dinner, you tell me you like my hair. You go from sassy and bossy one minute to the sweetest kid on the planet the next.
You are such a crazy mixture of your daddy and I. You have your daddy's dramatics and my love of talking. You got his energy and my belief that I can talk anyone into anything. You got your daddy's humor and my kind heart. You love sports just like your daddy. You will still turn anything into a bat and ball but you have become a water lover like me. You would swim all day if I let you. Such a change from last year. You have my love of music and your daddy's love of movies. You are such a perfect combination of us. I see so much of your daddy in you and while I often say to your dad "Man that kid is so much like you." What I really mean is I am so blessed that you are so much like your daddy.
I can't wait to see what this year brings. To see how you change. To watch you grow. Happy birthday, I love you baby!
