Rheagan: Breastfeeding Session
Breastfeeding sessions are near and dear to my heart. I had this image in my head for a while. I wanted to get nursing moms in nature looking naturally beautiful and this was one of those times that the reality matched the vision. There is a reason I love breastfeeding sessions so much, I think that it's rare to capture that level of bonding in a single image. But it almost always seems to happen when I'm working with a breastfeeding mom. I love the peaceful look mom gives her baby as she looks down at it. It's always the same look, pure and genuine love.
Rheagan was no exception. She was one of the first momma's to sign up for this round of mini sessions. She was so excited for this it made me even more excited. Here is what she had to say about her breastfeeding journey: "It created a great bond between Cadence and I and even though I had to work and pump she still loved our evening feeds. And after I stopped breastfeeding she puts her hand down my shirt for comfort and I love that!"
Have a great day guys!-Rachael
Claira: A Garden Cake Smash
Cake smash sessions are always fun. Every child reacts different. Some won't touch it at all, some kids go face first, some just cry. Whatever way they go they are always fun to watch. This one was no different. My friend Audreana knew she wanted to do a garden themed session so I said why not just go to a garden? It was a fun and different session for me since most of my cake smashes are in my studio. Check out all of Claira's (and Oliver's) cuteness.
These pictures are making me miss the warm! Stay toasty.-Rachael
DeMoss Family Session
I remember the first time I met Ginger. We were at our local library and she was there with her son Cody. We talked for a while and she then mentioned she wanted to get some family pictures done. So I gave her my number. She messaged me that day asking if we wanted a play date since our kids were the same age. We met up several times and the boys played. Our boys ended up at the same preschool so we have gotten to know each other even more. This family is so kind. Their kids are so well behaved and respectful. When Ginger asked if I had availabilty in the fall I knew I hat to fit them in.
This session was far from my comfort zone. We ended up shooting midday due to our schedules which is something I never do. I also rarely work with teens so that was different for me, but I've really learned that I enjoy working with "kids" that age. Since I knew we were shooting at noon I picked a location that usually had great shade coverage. There were still plenty of leaves left on the trees, everywhere but where we met. As soon as I got there I gulped and had an "Uh oh" moment. So there we were in the full sun with not much shade to be found since all the leaves on the trees were gone. We made it work though. It would have been much harder had these kiddos not been so well behaved.
They did so much right, they were dressed perfectly, they brought a "handler" for their dog which is so smart, and they trusted me to do what I do. So thank you DeMoss family for making a less than perfect situation great. You guys rocked this.
I'm so lucky to work with such sweet families. -Rachael
Winter Family Snow Session
When Ashley told me she wanted snow pictures I was so excited. I love snow pictures especially when it is actively snowing. We were supposed to shoot later in the day but the snow was coming down so beautifully I texted Ashley and said "Let's do this now!" and like the awesome person she is she said yes!
Have a beautiful week folks!-Rachael
Emma: Senior Session
I met Emma through her mother Callie. Almost every week for a year I got together with a wonderful group of ladies who shared a similar interest, breastfeeding. Callie is the Lactation Consultant at our local hospital. I have yet to meet a person who doesn't love her. She asked me if I could fit her daughter in for senior pictures because they had just found out she would be leaving soon. Emma got accepted into Interlochen Center for the Arts. The only thing I knew for this session was that she wanted to involve her violin in her session. She was the first senior girl I have had the pleasure of working with and let me tell you something, it's WAY easier that working with toddlers! I fell in love with this session before I was even done shooting it!
How lucky am I that she was my first senior girl, beyond lucky! Happy Monday!-Rachael
I have been taking pictures of Aubrey since the day she was born. It is always so fun to watch these children grow. She has turned into a bright, beautiful, and fun little girl. I so enjoy getting to catch up with this family from time to time. Ashley wanted to do a snow session last year but we were never able to make it happen. We were set to do a studio session on this day and then like magic beautiful snow began to fall. I messaged Ashley as quickly as I could that morning hoping that we could switch to an outside session. I was thrilled when she said yes. So I bundled up and we set out to play in the snow. I just adore how this session turned out. It's my favorite that we have done, and we have worked together a lot! Here are some of my favorites.
Seriously, isn't she just adorable? Have a beautiful week!-Rachael
I am a mom and a photographer. My love of motherhood led me to photograph all things from bellies to birth and beyond.
