Week 6: Shadows
In photography shadows are almost as important as lighting. I actually think that shadows tend to tell more of a story though. I swirled so many ideas around in my head for this challenge.
As I've said before I am trying to make this a personal challenge and to draw from my everyday life. This picture is an everyday occurrence, but it's one I don't see often. My husband (the saint that he is) gets up before me every weekday so that he can get ready for work which also means that he usually has our son for about an hour before I get out of bed. Well on this day Daddy had to leave exceptionally early in the morning to go out of town so it was just Des and I. He's only allowed his paci when he is going to sleep but sometimes on those extra early mornings we let him keep it for a little bit while he watches his Pocoyo. Only our hall light was on and I looked at him as he curled into himself on the couch and thought "Man, he looks almost like a baby again" cue pregnant mommy tears. I loved the way the light was hitting him and causing dramatic shadows. So I got out my camera and I captured this moment in time where my big boy seemed little again. Cue tears again. There is nothing perfect about this picture. It is noisy as all get out. But I love it.
Have a great week everyone- Rachael
